What is the use of this application ?
This application is used to maintain personal accounts by recording financial transactions and generating reports.
Should I know about accounting terms to use this app ?
No, this app is not meant for professional accountants. This is for the common people who know nothing about the basics of accounting.
What are the basic things I should know before using this app ?
There are just 3 basic terms which you should know before starting to use this app. They are :
1] TRANSACTIONS : flow of money from a source to a destination.
2] CATEGORY : reason for a transaction.
3] ACCOUNT : source or desination of a transaction.
What is a category ?
Category is the reason for a transaction[flow of money].
How do I add a category ?
Click on Settings > Manage categories > Add button.
Enter all details and save.
How do I edit a category ?
Click on Settings > Manage categories.
Click on the category you want to edit.
Enter all details and save.
How do I delete a category ?
Click on Settings > Manage categories.
Click on the category you want to delete.
Click on the delete button.
[NOTE : Categories can be deleted only if they are not used in any transactions.]
What is an account ?
Account is the source or destination of a transaction[flow of money].
How do I add an account ?
Click on Settings > Manage accounts > Add button.
Enter all details and save.
How do I edit an account ?
Click on Settings > Manage accounts.
Click on the account you want to edit.
Enter all details and save.
How do I delete an account ?
Click on Settings > Manage accounts.
Click on the account you want to delete.
Click on the delete button.
[NOTE : Accounts can be deleted only before closing the same days transactions.]
What is a transaction ?
Trasaction is the flow of money from one account to another.
How do I add a transaction ?
Click on Transactions > Today's Entries > Add button.
Enter all details and save.
How do I edit a transaction ?
Click on Transactions > Today's Entries.
Click on the transaction you want to edit.
Enter all details and save.
How do I delete a transaction ?
Click on Transactions > Today's Entries.
Click on the transaction you want to delete.
Click on the delete button.

[NOTE : Transactions can be edited or deleted only before the accounts are closed for that day. If you want to nullify a transaction after that, enter a reverse transaction on the active date. A reverse transaction can be added by entering the same transaction with negative amount.]

What is Category Filter ?
Category Filter is used to view past transactions. You can find the transactions between two dates for a subset of categories.
How do I apply the filter ?
Click on Transactions > Category Filter > Criteria button.
Enter all details and click on apply button.
Where do I find more details about the filtered transactions ?
Hold the device in landscape mode to see more information.
Click on a transaction to get more details about one particular transaction.
What is Account Balance ?
Account Balance is used to view balance in one or more accounts on a particular date.
How do I view the balances ?
Click on Transactions > Account Balance > Criteria button.
Enter all details and click on apply button.
What is Income/Expense report ?
Income/Expense report shows a summary of transactions in all categories based on their type(INCOME or EXPENSE). Categories of type OTHER are ignored in this report.
How do I use the Income/Expense report ?
Click on REPORTS > Income/Expense > Criteria button.
Enter all details and click on apply button.
How do I view the Income/Expense pie-chart ?
Click on the pie-chart-icon on the right-hand-side of the report-header.
How do I change the number of days in the expense-pie-chart in home-screen ?
Click on SETTINGS > Home Screen.
Change the number-of-days-in-chart value.
What is Assets/Liabilities report ?
Assets/Liabilities report shows a summary of balances in all accounts based on their type(ASSET or LIABILITY) on a given date. Accounts of OTHER type are ignored in this report.
How do I use the Assets/Liabilities Report ?
Click on REPORTS > Assets/Liabilities > Criteria button.
Enter all details and click on apply button.
What is Ledger View ?
Ledger View displays all transactions related to a particular account during a given period.
How do I use the Ledger View ?
Click on Reports > Ledger View > Criteria button.
Enter all details and click on apply button.
How do I view the details of a particular transaction ?
Click on a transaction to get more details about one particular transaction.
What is forecast ?
Forecast is used to predict your approximate expense/income for a period of time in the future, using a chosen set of historical transactions.
How do I use the forecast ?
Click on FUTURE > Forecast > Criteria button.
Enter all details and click on apply button.
What is forecast-period ?
The period in future, for which a prediction should be made, is called a forecast-period.
For example, if you want to know your approximate expense/income for the next 90 days, the forecast-period is 90 days.
What is data-usage-criteria ?
All the inputs in the section under data-usage-criteria, filters the sample-data used for forecast.
This selection should be done carefully, excluding all exceptional transactions, so that a more accurate prediction can be made.
What is budget ?
Budget is used to keep a tab on specific categories for a fixed/floating period of time.
How do I use the budget ?
Click on FUTURE > Budget > Criteria button.
Enter all details and click on apply button.
What is fixed/floating period ?
A fixed period is the period between a from-date and a to-date.
A floating period is a specific number of days in the past ending on the current-date.
What is budget/actual amount ?
Budget amount is the amount set by you for a specific category.
Actual amount is the total of all transactions that fall under the specific category in the budget period.
How do I set the budget-amount ?
After choosing the budget-period and categories, tap on any of the categories in the result to alter the budget-amount.
The default budget-amount will be set to 0.0.
How do I interpret the text-colors in the budget-screen ?
A green text-color indicates that you are within your budgeted amount.
A red text-color indicates that you have gone beyond your budgeted amount.
What is Export/Import ?
Export/Import feature allows your data to be exported for backup. This backup can be imported later to the same or a different device. A writable external storage device, like a memore card is required to use this feature.
How do I export my data ?
Click on Utilities > Export/Import > Export button.
Where can I find the exported file ?
Open your external storage using any file explorer application. You will find a new folder called mycoin, with two subfolders namely export & import. The export folder will contain the exported backup files with the active-date in the file name.
How do I import data from a backup-file ?
Copy the backup-file you want to use from the export folder and paste the same in import folder.[Import folder should contain one and only one backup-file.] Then open the application and click on import-button.
